About the Filmmaker
Stella Racca
Born in Victoria B.C. and raised in Toronto, I have lived in Canada all my life. I have seen firsthand the shortcomings of our national response to the climate emergency, and experienced (like many) climate anxiety, a sense of doom, and deep depression when thinking about and seeing the places I know and love change because of the emergency. I experience a lot of grief and anxiety about the future, and channeling that into documentary filmmaking allows me to transform these paralyzing feelings into something generative.
I am pursuing my MFA in Doc Media at Toronto Metropolitan University. My undergrad thesis documentary explored the climate crisis, a topic I really care about. My work has screened at Inside Out, Toronto Queer Film Festival, GEMFest, Exposures Montreal, and One Fluid Night in London.
